About Ernie

Big beauty of a dog, Ernie suffers with resource guarding and is more dog than our personalities can manage. Ernie trains well, had an excellent spring session and is accustomed to e-collar training as well. He's come a very long way--no longer chasing cars and he walks very well on leash. He had a blast with a dog that happened along in our yard but not happy with the little dog at PetSmart, where he has his nails done. We have an old cat and Ernie will pick on the cat to be a pest but he respects his limits. And besides, the cat takes it! Loves to play fetch, not so good at catch. Will bring to you and offer up throw pillows and shoes for a tidbit. He'll put the ball in your lap, too! He is boundary trained on our 12 acres which he absolutely takes full advantage of. Weekend walks of 3 miles or so. Ernie does need management, however, to keep him out of trouble and further training to get him past his resource guarding would be in order. Entering his crate or outdoor living space while were gone goes well--except for when it doesn't. As if he's saying, no, I'd rather not today. Truly, he's a fine speciman who has superceded our abilities.
