About Gala

Gentle Gala is the friendliest soul, immediately welcoming to everyone she meets, both human and canine. We think Gala had multiple litters of pups in her life, not just because she is 10+ years old and only recently spayed, but also because she is so nurturing to other dogs. She will lovingly and patiently groom them as though she is their surrogate mother, and she's patient and tolerant when they get boisterous or humpy. Gala does love her naps but when awake she is peppy and active and playful, making you think she is much younger than 10. She loves to go on walks and gets very excited when she sees the leash come out. Since she weighs just 10 lbs., she is a great size for a lap buddy or a take-along companion, and she'll gladly adjust her energy level to whatever it is that you want to do. Gala is quite hard of hearing, but she is very aware, following her people around and watching them to read their thoughts. She likes routine (she will let you know if you are late giving her dinner) and appreciates a schedule that gives her plenty of outdoor opportunity and/or dog door access to maximize her house-training reliability. Although Gala's bark isn't particularly loud or shrill, she can be very insistent when she wants something (e.g. to be let in or out), so she wouldn't be a good choice for a home with shared walls (apartment or condo) unless there was someone home most of the time. Gala recently had dental surgery to remove some loose/broken teeth and also surgery to remove some large mammary masses. Through it all, she was good-humored and managed to charm the vet staff. Now that she is all healed up, she is eager to find a new home where she can enjoy being the princess that she was meant to be.
