There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. Puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think that they may have been euthanized in a high-kill shelter. Bandit, now 5 weeks old and 8 lbs ( estimated to be full grown at about 40 - 45 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on Bandit's pregnant mom. They responded just in time and just one week later, Bandit and his 11 siblings were born (sadly two have since passed away). Bandit is starting out his life with great energy He's a sweet/loving and super-healthy guy with the cutest pudgy belly ever. Since he's only experienced very kind handling and respect in his life, Bandit is blooming into a happy go lucky guy with fun and silliness on his mind...and then puppy crashing into a deep sleep. Since Bandit is just a tiny baby, he's a blank slate who is very open to a kind and patient human showing him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Bandit will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by force- free group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Since Farfel's feels very strongly about giving Bandit the best possible start in life, we're not willing to adopt out to a home that's unwilling to participate in a force-free training protocol. We're happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement trainers in your area. We're open to Bandit finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of commitment and energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Bandit loves children as well...we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in play and fun as well as training. Kids are an integral part of a training regimen that's so important in a puppy's well-adjusted future behavior. Farfel's isn't willing to place Bandit with a family that works full-time outside of the home unless special arrangements are made. It's not in his best interest as a puppy in his developmental stages to spend these long hours alone. A family that is willing to make arrangements for doggie daycare or a dog-walker/hiker will be given special consideration. Bandit will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. Bandit is too young to be neutered at this time. When he's ready, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Bandit's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Bandit is growing and learning about his wonderful life in a foster home in Denver. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful puppy with the great personality.
