About Taz

Adoption Fee: $325
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This is Taz. Taz is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd that is a diamond in the rough. Taz is not a double Merle but he is deaf but knows some signs like sit, wait down, no (kind of) and come (when he is looking at you). He is a special boy who likes people especially his person. He is a very active boy who needs a forever home didicated to draining his energy and keeping his mind busy. He goes for walks on the Appalachian trail almost every day with his foster mom and he wears a backpack because she would most certainly run out of energy before him. Before and after these hikes he enjoys zoomies with foster siblings in the yard that sometimes start out in the house! Eek. If you have a house full of fine China Taz probably isn't the dog for you. Taz does have a bit of separation anxiety and needs to be crated whenever his foster mom goes outside. If there is a higher surface he can use to get a better look out of the windows he will use it. Tables, counters, anything goes. He will need to continue learning house manners in his forever home. He will need a securely fenced yard or dedicated leash walking because he is deaf and also because he has proven himself an escape artist (however, he stopped trying to get out of the yard once he settled in). He also chases cars and, although he is perfect on the leash while walking in the woods, does try to chase passing cars while walking on a road. The perfect forever home would have an active female dog that he can play with. He does not understand dogs that prefer to not have him in their face. He loves water and likes to blow bubbles in the water bowl and kiddie pool. He is very athletic and would probably be good at agility or dock diving with some work. He is way too interested in the cat in his foster home so needs a home without cats. He is OK with older sturdier kids. If you are looking for a hiking or running partner who has energy to spare look no further. If you think Taz might be a good fit for your family please fill out an application at http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application His adoption fee is $325 and all proceeds go towards helping future rescues.
