He does prefer to be the only dog, His energy level is quite calm when indoors, when he goes outside to our runs area he loves to run back and forth. as far as kids we don't have the means to test with kids but I do not see it being an issue. He's pretty quiet when it come to being alone. He was adoptd out once and returned due to the fact he did not get a long with the cat in the home. He is a great dog overall. We would prefer him to go to a Great Dane Rescue. If possible. I believe he would do well with children 12+
