About Roberts

August 19, 2018 Hello, My name is Roberts and I am a very special long haired German Shepard presently at the Silver City High Desert Humane Society in Silver City, NM. My age is most likely 6 to 7 years and I weigh 60 pounds. I seem under weight although it is difficult to realize through my fur. I have a gorgeous red and black coat and must have been specially bred to look as I do. I am strong and healthy and am up to date in all of my shots. I must be neutered before leaving the shelter which is included in the adoption fee of $115. I am told all the time that I am gorgeous but how can this be important if I cannot share my wonderful self with the right person or family who loves and understands the sensitive nature of a German Shepard. I do not remember how I became a stray running free for nearly two months around Lake Roberts near Silver City, NM (thus my name Roberts). Animal Control finally caught me with a yummy bribe in a trap a second time! I interacted with folks while on the go and even let some pet me but I was afraid to be caught and honestly, relieved when I was. No one has looked for me where I have been since July 20th. I need to feel loved, confident, and connected again to a new person or family. I have a very gentle, loving nature and am mostly happy and calm. I have a few fears left from my roaming days that keep me shy until I get to know you better but am sure happy to see my pals. I will be a devoted companion. I have shown no aggression to other dogs but I am not sure about cats. I am friendly with people and children but will be most interested in You once we bond. I am a 'people' dog so am best not left alone for many hours at a time where anxiety can create problems in my otherwise good behavior. I would most likely not make a good guard dog despite my German Shepard roots. I do not bark very much but may to alert you or to get your attention. All of this I offer but most of all love, friendship, and beauty! One more thought for consideration is I have a heavy coat and will most appreciate a cool place when the temperatures are so hot outside. The longer I am here the worse it is for me.
