'My name is Vanilla. Nilla or Nilly for short. I am 9 years old, and this is my story. Let me start by saying I never thought I would be here; desperately trying to find a new family who loves me and whom I can love in return. You see, I was an adorable, tiny puppy once. I had a family who loved me and I deeply loved them. I had two human sisters who I would play with and walk with;%A0 I had not one care in the world. We were a family, and I was sure this is how it would always be. Cut to last December. My Family and I went on a drive (maybe to the park, I thought?), but we ended up at a very loud, scary place with lots of barking dogs. My family told me I would have to stay here for a while until they were able to take care of me again. I was so scared, but tried to be brave. My family would come visit me sometimes, which made me very happy! But as the months ticked by, the visits became fewer and father between, and I knew I would never be going home.%A0 I stayed at the place they called the kennel for eight months. They were very nice to me there, but I was heartbroken. My family, who I loved so very much, was gone. Then one day, a couple with two small, sassy dogs came to visit me. I really didn't know what to think of them, so I just mostly ignored them. They were talking to the nice kennel lady about fostering me, whatever that is. I was very unimpressed with the whole situation. Next thing I knew, I was in their car and we were off! I have been living with the very nice couple%A0 and their two (not as) sassy dogs for a month now. I really like it here. We go on lots of walks, since they know it's my favorite, and I get lots of pets, also my favorite. You can two favorites, right?! When we're at home, I am on my very best behavior. I never have accidents in the house, and enjoy snoozing in my bed. When we go on walks, I do tend to bark and get a little protective of my new pack. I know it's not good, but I just know I can learn and get better. My foster parents are very patient and trying to teach me. I have also really come to enjoy playing with their two dogs. I may be nine, but I've still got so much life in me! The only problem is, my foster parents keep telling me I can't live with them forever, and they're trying to find me my forever home. This does make me a little sad since I really do like them, but I understand. So here I am, looking for a forever home! I know I'm older than I once was, and a little slower, but I have so much love to give! My foster mom says older dogs, like me, take a lot longer to get adopted. But I believe in miracles, and I believe that for every dog, young and old, there is a family out there waiting to love them. If you read this and think you may be my miracle, I'd love to meet you! Until then, I'll continue to sun in the yard and day dream about all the wonderful adventures to come with my forever family. Her adoption fee is $250 and that includes shots and microchip.
