About Doug

Adoption Fee: $50
Pit Bull mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This sweet boy is Doug! My husband and I rescued him from Forsyth Humane with full intention of being his forever home. We are absolutely in love with him. My husband and I are newly weds and we immediately searched for the perfect dog to add to our family and there he was. Unfortunately when we rescued him we didn't know that there was a Pitbull/ Am Staff breed ban sanctioned on Marine bases. In October of this year my husband and I are moving cross country to his next station in California. We searched for apartments in our price range that allow large dogs and there were very few, and the few that did allow large dogs did not allow pitbulls, Rottweilers, or Dobermans. So, it is with a broken heart that my husband and I search for a new home for Doug. Doug is a great dog! He does well with kids and other laid back dogs. He's been around my 6 yr old sister-in-law a lot and he gives her space and privacy because he can sense that she is terrified of him. He does good with other dogs as long as they are calm. However, he gets really uncomfortable when hyper dogs invade his space. Honestly, I feel as though Doug would thrive in a single dog home. He craves all the attention! He loves to cuddle and be close. He loves to curl up under a blanket and have a lazy day with us. He is a little mischievous, but his mischief is sure to cause laughter! If you live alone he would make sure you never felt lonely. I spent a week all alone with him and I laughed more that week than I do when I'm with people! Doug is crate trained, he responds to the command 'crate up.'. He will procrastinate to squeeze in some extra Love but he will listen. He definitely still needs some more manner training, the best method I found to deal with his madness is a spray bottle. I believe if you use that he will learn quick! Doug is such a sweet boy with a big personality, and the BIGGEST head. If you are interested in giving Doug a home please feel free to contact me! I am willing to drive a good way to give him the home he deserves! Adoption fee includes leash, harness, and crate!
