About Douglas

Handsome Douglas is a 4 year Australian Cattledog who weighs about 35 pounds. His foster is busy getting up to his goal weight of 40-45 pounds. He came to us a bit to thin. Douglas is learning fast. He knows sit and is working on down. He is a polite guy in the house, though house training reinforcement is always wise in a new home. He is learning all about the dog door, too. He is also crate trained. Douglas seems to like all of the men and women he has met. We haven't had him around kids, so we prefer older grade school or high school kids for him. He is a good boy with other dogs, too. He blended into the foster pack and loves to play with his foster sister (she is in the video). He is a gentleman. He has also met cats in the house while on leash and has done well. Douglas has just learned about playing with a ball. We wonder if he will eventually want to fetch. Douglas is a fabulous adventure partner. Is is great on leash and rides politely in the car. Someone wasn't nice to Douglas in his past. He can be wary of what you carry in your hands and he is a sensitive boy. With kindness, he will stop being wary of this. Douglas is total best friend material. He loves to be with his people. He likes to cuddle and will lay at your feet and give you very gentle kisses. He also takes treats very gently. He was great at the vet, no stress about the waiting room and went right up to the vet. Douglas is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. We do not ship our dogs. He is available for a meeting and adoption in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required.
