About BROCK *Courtesy Post*

Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Brock is a super cute, 3-4 year old, red cattle dog/heeler. At 48 lbs. he is a classic size for this breed. Also typical of heelers, he is very alert, intelligent, and wants to bond closely with his person. With people he knows, he will run up gleefully to greet you, and playfully bounce around you or play with toys. When first meeting new people, however, he can be aloof, but once he warms up and trusts someone, he loves attention and petting from them, and is a very happy boy. He is fine being handled, and the shelter staff pulled on his toes, tail and ears. He tends to be a quiet boy, and is not a barker, except when he's so excited to see someone and wants to greet them. Brock is also good with other dogs, and lives with a kennel mate at the shelter. He has shown NO interest in livestock, including chickens and ducks. Because Brock is fearful around younger children, he needs to live in an adult only home. He does not show any aggression at all, but is very nervous around young children, who are often unpredictable, loud, and move quickly. As a very alert and bright guy, Brock is scared in the shelter, by all the sounds, smells and activities, and an environment full of barking, crying dogs. As a result, he takes a little time to warm up to people. When potential adopters have been unable to make a quick connection with him, they were not interested in adopting him. Brock was originally picked up as a stray, and has been at the shelter since mid-May 2018. He is a great dog, who will be a wonderful companion for someone. He just needs someone who understands this breed, and can patiently work with him to become less nervous around new people and situations, and to build his confidence. Brock is up to date on all his vaccinations and is heart worm negative.
