About Sherlock

Adoption Fee: 300
Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Sherlock is about six years old and 19 pounds. He is a doggie who needs a special someone to love him as he is. Could you be his Watson? Sherlock is a low key and easy dog to care for. However, like every animal, he does have his quirks. Read on to see if you could be Sherlock's partner-in-crime! The GOOD Sherlock enjoys hanging around and loves attention from his chosen person. He is crate and house-trained. Sherlock loves going for walks and going for rides in the car. He's the perfect passenger in the car too - he sits right in the front passenger seat looking out the window or he curls himself up and rests. This makes him an ideal companion for running errands! Sherlock can live with another low-key dog around his size who is respectful of his space. The OTHER Sherlock can be aloof when you first meet him. While he's not unfriendly or aggressive, he's simply not going to love you as soon as you walk in the door. He can take you or leave you. However, once proven to be worthy of his attention Sherlock will be your best friend. Sherlock does have some resource guarding issues of all sort of items - high value treats, toys, his bed, a randomly dropped tissue, etc. He will bite (and bite hard) if he feels you are about to take something that is his. Sherlock is not a fan of the groomer or the vet. Adopters should expect him to have a difficult time at both places. He is also prone to ear infections as is common with the breed. If -- after having read through the above quirks -- your interest in Sherlock has grown we would love to speak with you! Please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser and his foster mom will call to discuss him further. http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/ Sherlock is being fostered in Winchendon and the adoption fee is $300. 'Like' Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook! NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
