Please read very carefully before applying. Zhu Zhu came to us from puppy mill with a label of 'bad mother' and ' possibly pregnant'. Ultrasound didn't show any babies so Zhu Zhu will be spayed and will have dental cleaning next week, available for adoption after recovery. Zhu Zhu is 4 y.o. purebred Shih Tzu, with typical behavior of a puppy mill survivor. She is very timid and spooks of loud noises. She wants to be loved and wiggles her tail but doesn't let you touch her, yet. She follows you around but run away if you try to touch. We can see huge progress already, in 3 weeks, but she still has a long road to go. It will take a very special adopter, who has time and patience to help her overcome this fear. She must have another friendly dog as a companion, she doesn't do well alone. Probably home without young children, someone who is home a lot. No apartments as she doesn't walk on the leash yet and won't do any good to keep chasing her around with a leash. She will follow you outside through patio door and she will potty outside if she feels comfortable. So house with a yard or enclosed patio a must. She is still young and have a great chance of rehabilitation, just need a right adopter and right situation. She already comes to her foster mom and licks her hand (when foster doesn't look), so she definitely learning fast. If you have a special place in your heart to help this poor soul, she deserves a good life after 4 years of misery. She is healthy and non aggressive, just scared. And very cute too! Around 8 lbs.
