About Summer

I'm a friendly little nugget named Summer weighing in at 35 lbs. My first owner kept me in a crate for the first 5 months of my life and the last person that adopted me just tied me up to a boat and walked away. Thankfully the animal control officer found me. They think in the beginning of my young life I may have been taken from my mom too soon as I soothe myself by hugging, kneading, and sucking on my pillow. You would think after all of this I would be bitter, but I'm not. I still love people and just want to be loved by someone like you reading this. My most recent adopters didn't give me enough time to decompress and get used to my surroundings so I was over stimulated with no way to get rid of my pent up energy. They didn't want to work through this with me so I was brought back to the shelter. My foster mom took me back but she cannot keep me much longer so I need a new home NOW. I would really love a place with a nice secure fence where I could run and chase tennis balls to help release this puppy energy. I really do love to run and play fetch. The bigger the ball, the happier I am, but I will never complain as long as I have one to chase. Remember what they say...a tired dog is a good dog! Couple of other things that you need to know about me. First...I've spent almost half my life in a crate. I don't want to be in another one so please...no crates for me. Second...with slow introductions, and the right dog, I believe I can be with other dogs but for the time being please let me be the only dog until I get acclimated. In order for me to succeed I really need a family that can provide me with consistency, structure, exercise, and patience. I'm also learning basic commands starting with 'down' and 'drop it' and also learning to walk on a leash so I don't pull. Added bonus...look at these ears, I can connect with alien nations from other planets or at the very least get you free cable stations.
