About Roxie

Adoption Fee: $200
Poodle / Schnauzer
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Name: Roxie - In Foster in Rocky Mount, NC Sex: Female Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Poodle (Miniature) / Miniature Schnauzer / Mixed (long coat) Weight: 11.4 lb currently needs to gain at least 1 lb Height: 12 in Estimated Birthdate: 11/6/2003 Fence Needed: No Location: Foster Home in Rocky Mount, NC Adoption Fee:$200 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release - health of owner Special Needs: Roxie has a 2/6 heart murmur and our doctor has started her on a heart strengthening drug called vetmedin (also known as pimobenden). This is under $1 per day at 1-800-petmeds. She also has chronic disc disease from T 13 to L3. There is loss of flexibility but she does not appear to be in pain. She is on no medication for this and it simply needs to be watched. What kind of home would be best for me: Sweet Roxie would enjoy a quiet home with someone who will spend time with her. She has been the apple of her retired owner's eye and misses the attention and the love. What is my personality like: Roxie is laid back, very quiet and very sweet tempered little girl with no desires to cause any sort of trouble. She is a senior now and she is happiest in a quiet environment with a quiet owner. Roxie was much loved all through her life (as evidenced by the 22 pages of medical records that cam with her). She's had the best of everything medically and is very healthy for her age. She recently had an exam and had her teeth cleaned and did well. She is overwhelmed at our busy rescue and wants nothing more than to find life again in a quiet corner, with someone who is content with her being just the way she is. Roxie can grow a full coat of hair- our groomer cut her like a poodle but she is cute as can be trimmed up as a tiny labradoodle or as a schnoodle. She's versatile that way. How do I act when I first meet new people: A little reserved but will warm up. Tips and Tidbits: House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
