SCARLETT JOHANSSON (yes, that is her name and she's just as gorgeous as her namesake) - AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!! Get your applications in now! Scarlett J. is a 2 year old 40# standard-sized Black Tri Australian Shepherd who is always ready to be on the go and have fun! She is an active, medium-energy girl who needs a family who will love her, not in spite of her quirky jaw, but because it makes her super special! She was born with a shortened misshapen bottom jaw, but it barely slows her down! While with her foster family since March, she has been given the chance to bloom and learn how to use her mouth to the best of her ability, and she can do most things other dogs do. She loves people (but prefers women) and other dogs with slow introductions. She enjoys chasing birds and squirrels in her spare time, and loves playing tug-of-war with her foster's Yorkie. She easily settles down when it is time to do so and gives quite the cuddles if you don't mind a medium sized dog with its tongue hanging out sprawled across you and giving you kisses. Scarlett is quick to learn, eager to please, and corrects easily, but loves snatching things off the counter or out of the trash, so you'll need to be strategic in placement of food and trash cans. She LOVES toys and will entertain herself with a bunch of those, but her favorite thing is chewing on beef bones. She'll chew on them forever, which is great because she won't chew on your shoes! She loves chasing balls, and has learned how to pick some up in her determination to play fetch. She loves running around her foster's yard with the other dogs and would enjoy having another active and playful dog sibling of similar size and stamina in her home to rough-house with, but that's not a requirement. Scarlett has been tested with cats in her foster home, but she's a bit overwhelming to them, so a home without cats is best. Scarlett has done great in public situations and with meeting new people, but definitely prefers women. It takes her longer to trust men. She is your typical shadow dog and if given a choice, she would never leave your side (except to chase birds and squirrels). She is friendly with kids, but would do best with older children in her home, as she gets very enthusiastic in her play and may accidentally knock younger kids down. Scarlett is house trained, crate trained, and knows 'sit', 'wait', 'down', 'off' and 'high-five.' She is trusted to stay loose in her foster mom's bathroom during the day. Scarlett does use a special dish when drinking water in the house to prevent messes, and her dish will follow her to her furever home. When outdoors, she lays down to drink out of a large dish, and she also lays down when eating. It helps her to keep food and water in her mouth. Additionally, she does get things wet because her tongue hangs out, so if getting wet spots on the floor or your bed, or getting drool on your legs is not acceptable, she's probably not the dog for you. But she is a true love, and if you have the heart to accept her in all of her glory, she'll love you back tenfold! Scarlett is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm preventative.
