About Daisy Mae

Daisy Mae is an incredibly sweet Lab mix around 2 1/2 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. Her piercing golden eyes and neverending tail wags are sure to melt even the toughest hearts. If Daisy could talk, she would tell you that she has endured more in her short life than most dogs out there could handle but she takes it in stride and doesn't let it get her down. Sure, she has some separation anxiety, but who wouldn't if they lived the life she has. But her loving and happy spirit still shines through. She is always happy to see her people and always the first to try and cheer you up. Daisy is looking for a very special home, one where she will never be given up on and one where she can give as much love as she gives back. We feel like Daisy would thrive in a home where she had a purpose. She has a way with people that not all dogs posses and she could really change the lives of those around her. We see her being trained as a therapy dog or even a PTSD dog. Maybe a resident dog at a retirement community or working with kids who have different abilities. She absolutely thrives on making people happy and comforting them. She is so gentle and tolerant with children and seems to really connect with those who need her the most. Daisy Mae does well with other dogs and dog savvy cats, she enjoys going on walks and playing with toys. She is treat motivated and ready to learn! Basically, Daisy Mae is the perfect dog with one hitch. She has separation anxiety. She panics when she is left alone and is in need of a home with patience to help her overcome this. In an effort to find you, she will be destructive and must be kenneled. But kenneling her for too long will cause her to chew at the bars of her kennel. She has medication to help with this as well as a stronger kennel that will be adopted with her and her foster family works with her daily to desensitize. For this reason, Daisy will only be adopted to a home where her person/people are home most of the time or where she can be trained to be a therapy/resident dog to help others. She is not destructive when her people are around, being alone is just so hard on her. Daisy Mae is house trained, current on vaccines, heartwom negative, spayed and microchipped. She was hit by a car previously so she walks with a slight limp, however it doesn't slow her down.
