About Rigby

Rigby is only 18 months old and already looking for his second human to love. (Sadly, his first one passed away.) This Rat Terrier mixed with a touch of Chihuahua has so much love to give someone that it literally shows! Just take a look at the little white heart on his forehead and the larger black one on his side, and you'll see what we mean. Just under 12 lbs., Rigby is the perfect size for a lap dog, which is exactly what he prefers. He qualifies as a true Velcro dog, wanting to be close to his human as much as possible. He'll need someone home most of the time as he's really a big couch potato whose favorite activity is to snuggle. And at night, he'll sleep soundly all night in bed with you. Rigby gets along with other dogs (and has limited interest in cats), but with his fairly low energy level, he doesn't necessarily need another canine playmate. He's extremely good on leash, so walks will be enough to keep him in tip-top shape. Rigby is currently learning some commands and is easy to teach because he's very treat motivated and responsive to people. He's completely house-trained, but he wants someone to accompany him outside and definitely prefers dry weather so that he can keep those paws dry. He is trustworthy loose in the house, so no crate is necessary, and he is only vocal if he is left alone. Rigby is OK with the older children in his foster home, but he doesn't like being grabbed so he might be uncomfortable around younger children.
