My decision to join the Marine Corps means that I have to find a new home for my very best friend, Lucy by September. She is basically the best dog ever (provided that she's the only dog in the household). She is loving and smart and a wonderful hiking buddy. She sleeps most of the day, and is happy with just two good walks a day, and maybe one good adventure a week. Loves a good ear scratch, and a spoonful of peanut butter. She sometimes barks like an absolute maniac at other dogs (and squirrels), so she wouldn't be a good fit for someone without a strong arm. She turns 9 this October, but she's in perfect health. Her back leg will start to drag if you run her more than about a mile or walk her more than 3, but otherwise no hip issues (common fro Shepherds). She is a great travel buddy- she has gone via boat, car, airplane, paddle board, train, and subway!) and is happiest when she's with her person. Although she gets a bit excited to meet new people, she absolutely loves humans and she is great with kids. Untested with cats, don't recommend keeping her with other dogs.
