About Bucky

Adoption Fee: $150
Black and Tan Coonhound mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Bucky came to us from a cruelty situation. He was left in a bedroom for 25 days with limited to no food or water and no contact. Bucky was slightly emaciated and had a massive blood clot or infection in his bladder. We aren't positive of the cause, but could have been from ingesting rat poison or a condition called Prostatitis. Bucky had a UTI to go along with it which may have played some roll in the mass. He is all healed and physically healthy now! Bucky is awkward in the best way. He behaves like he's never been shown any love but is really interested in learning how to be a cuddle buddy! The single best word to describe Bucky is HAPPY!!! Bucky has food aggression that we have been working on. Much progress has been made and he now feels safe to trust the people in his home. Because food can be a trigger for him, we ask no children under the age of eight be in the home. Children should be old enough to be instructed not to reach in his bowl or share their food with him. As it should be with with any dog, supervision around children is required. Bucky absolutely ADORES his tiny 5 yo foster sister (human). She is fierce and has grown up in rescue, therefore commonly practices and understands to follow certain protocol. Bucky is a bit nervous around strangers at first but takes just a little time to warm up. He will need someone to continue teaching him how to ride in a car, without fear and someone that is patient and gentle but firm in their training approaches. Bucky is an absolute joy and an incredible dog to be around. With earning his trust, there is a special bond created. He has done excellent off-leash, in appropriate settings, and responds beautifully to his recall. Bucky is quick to learn and eager to communicate with his people. He is definitely a diamond in the 'ruff'. *Bucky's adoption fee includes three training sessions.
