Sierra could be that dream come true best friend for an active family with very gentle dog-crazy kids or active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet and engaging companion. Once comfortable, Sierra will return 100% of your kindness and caring with all the love that lives inside of her. The Schnauzer/Poodle mix (Schnoodle) is a a perfect choice for those who are searching for a super- smart, loyal and very loving family dog. Sierra's story is all too common in her very close call to being euthanized in a scary New Mexico shelter....but who could ignore her sweet and kind manner and desire to bond with those that are kind and understand all that she's been through. Sierra's engaging nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated. Her very sweet and kind temperament leads her to ultimately become a friend to every dog-lover she meets. She is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of both the Schnauzer and Poodle breeds. Sierra seems to be successfully working through the feelings around the lack of love that made up her early life. At about 12 months old and 15 lbs, Sierra is a fuzzy ball of goodness that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see Sierra in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's appropriately playful and fun-loving and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Sierra will be a wonderful companion for active, fun-loving retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly sweet young dog. She would also fit in well with a younger family that works part-time or from home and loves to have a best companion. Sierra doesn't require another dog to be happy if her people are very present...but does enjoy her canine relationships with playful and gentle dogs. She is untested with cats. Sierra will do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a neighborhood walk, a long hike, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Sierra's sweetness, gentle personality and social skills. Sierra has a cottony-soft and very shiny non-shedding coat (or very lightly shedding..it's difficult to tell for certain until she gets a much needed grooming) that will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement is an excellent lifelong choice for longevity and coat care. Sierra will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy pups. Farfel's has requested that Sierra be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Sierra's spay and microchip if one of our Colorado rescue vets is used.
