About Bruno

Bruno is a lovable, fun-loving, silly, cuddly, adorable 1 year old neutered male pitbull. He was originally relinquished to a shelter due to a severe rectal prolapse. Bruno had to had surgery to remove some of his colon and rectum and he since recovered very well. He was evaluated by a veterinary surgeon who thinks he will be able to live a normal life despite this, but new adopter would need to know that this should be monitored by their veterinarian as he ages. Bruno is assertive and plays Very hard/rough with other dogs. Some dogs tolerate this, some dogs do not appreciate it. He can sometimes be pushy and is working on impulse control and over-exuberant greetings (he is basically a typical wild teenaged pit bull). He does not back down to challenges from other assertive dogs, which is why he is having challenges at his current home (he has started occasionally fighting with the other large, male pit mix in the house). Despite his exuberance, he is polite with our young children and gentle with our cat. He is potty trained, crate trained, and currently lives with two other dogs, a cat, and two small children. He attends doggy daycare twice weekly and does well there. We are devastated to have to face this decision but feel that Bruno would have a happier, less restricted life in a home that can better manage his needs. Our other larger male pit mix is no longer tolerating Bruno's nudginess and pushiness, which causes safety issues. Bruno should go to someone who has experience with the breed and is able to continue to provide training for him. He could do well in a home with other dogs, but would depend on the dog and owner.
