Children 8 years or older Best with calm dogs Hi-Ho, I am Twix and I am as sweet as my name sounds. My world has been turned upside down a bit because the family I grew up with brought me to WCHS to find a new home. I do not think I did anything wrong, they just wanted to move and not take me with them; I do not understand. I am a glass-half-full kind of guy, though, so I have decided not to let this get me down - I know bright days are ahead for me. I am in the prime of my life, I am an active and happy boy and I am absolutely gorgeous. I may be a tad shy when we first meet but give me a little time to warm up and I will be a friendly and loyal friend forever. I could share a home with a gentle and respectful dog buddy and I could even live with a cat; I may even try to play with the kitty after a bit so I hope they do not mind that. Any children in my new home should be 8 years or older because fast movements and new environments or situations can overwhelm me. I need the whole family to understand that they need to give me space and time to relax. I have fabulous manners with my food bowl and other valuable resources, although I do start to eat faster and take big mouthfuls when someone comes by at mealtime. An easy exercise we can do together is for you to walk by me and toss in a yummy treat into my food bowl without stopping. In time, I may come to look forward to company while I am eating if it means tasty treats rain down from the sky. I do well with all sorts of handling but I do prefer we take things slowly and I LOVE my bum scratched. I have been described as friendly, playful gentle, active and tolerant. To be my best I will need plenty of exercise each day and opportunities to keep my beautiful brain busy too. Since I weigh about 70 pounds I may be a bit big for your lap but I do enjoy snuggling next to you after a fun-filled day of play and activity.
