Saffy is a very loving and loyal dog. She is six years old and has terrible separation anxiety. She absolutely can NOT stay in a crate, even heavy-duty crates she is able to break out of. She does not like to be left alone, and will bark, whine, and cry non-stop. She was adopted when she was six months old and as much as we tried, we have never been able to break her of this. It calmed down a little once she got older, however, her 'dad' and I are no longer together. I was unable to take her where I moved, so she stayed with dad. Her anxiety has spiked again, likely from having her family broken apart, and he is having difficulty continuing to care for her financially and with leaving her alone. She has torn up several things at the home where he moved to, and neighbors are complaining because of her whining and barking. It is absolutely devastating to us to even consider finding a new home for her, and taking her to a shelter where she could potentially be euthanized is not an option. She is good with cats and children. My 4-yr old son has used her as a pillow often, and she just goes with it. She is loyal and protective of her people. We are heartbroken but don't know what else to do or where to turn.
