Beagle / Border Collie

Please share! We are looking for a good home for our family dog, Gracie, an 8-year-old Beagle mix who we rescued as a puppy in 2010. Gracie is very people-friendly, affectionate and loyal. She is spayed and has never been pregnant. She is chipped, current on all shots and healthy. She is very good at showing her feelings, with a wagging tail or a sad face (when she sees us leaving). She is trained to walk on a leash, we are in the habit of 3-4 2-mile walks a week, and responds to the following commands: - Sit - Stay - Here and come here (she'll come to you) - Lay down - Look (she'll look where you point) - Uh-uh (she will stop what she is doing and look at you) - Ok (All good signal, and she will wait to take a treat until you say ok, most times!) - Hush (Stop barking) - I've taught her to sit and remain while I take off her leash until I say 'fetch' She has never bitten a human or child and we own a cat she sometimes chases, but has never harmed. She loves the great outdoors, walking and running loose in wide-open spaces. She also loves chasing small prey, including small dogs (who are not known to her), and plays rough when she catches them. Our neighborhood has many small pets and she scares them. She cannot roam outside our fence off leash. She's not a jumper, we have a 48' fence, but barks at animals passing by. Therefore, we keep her inside at night. She is protective of her property and loved ones and we have to be careful around strange dogs as she will suddenly growl, snarl and bite at them, as most dogs do. All of that may not seem like a great reason to give up a dog, but we are starting to travel a lot and feel like she would be happier with a family that is more attentive. Special Offer: Adopters may choose a two week trial adoption with the understanding that if Gracie doesn't work out she will be returned to us and not dumped in some kill shelter or given to a dog fighter somewhere. Attention: If we don't know you, we will require that you have a veterinarian reference, so please provide that. We may require a home check to see her new home and meet her new family. (We deliver!) We are located in Austin, near RR 2222 and Highway 360 in the Lakewood subdivision. Please email Randy at [email protected] for inquiries. Please, serous inquiries only, and no offers for training, other promotions, etc.
