About Jackson

Jackson has a really sweet personality once he get to knows you. We adopted him from a craiglist post in May 2018, he was clearly neglected but we didn't know the extent to which he was affected. We took him home, gave him his very first bath ever, took him to his first vet appointment ever, got rid of his flea infestation, secondary skin infection, and worms, got him fixed, we got him his first toys and even got him to the groomer. But he continues to have problems and needs behavior training. Unfortunately, after the $2000 I've already spent on him and being a single mom with 2 active teenagers, I just don't have the money or time to get him the behavior help he needs. Here are some of his issues: No understanding of personal space, he refuses to go to the bathroom in our yard - requires a 1/2 mile walk each time (even at 2 in the morning) or will go in the basement, when we do go for a walk for the bathroom he is generally very good on the leash and like his harness BUT if he sees another person or animal he goes crazy, the only man he has ever NOT been aggressive with was my boyfriend, surprisingly he is great with our 4 cats but other dogs pose a problem, he was never taught how to play so he plays very rough, his behavior is very unpredictable which makes things like the groomer/vet/company/etc very difficult. Jackson would do best in a home where he is the only dog and with someone who has the time and money to focus on his anxiety/behavior issues. I'm not opposed to him going to a home with a man, but only if on the initial meeting Jackson is ok with him. He also should not go to a home with small children, although I don't think he would ever hurt a child, the vet recommended he be kept away from children. It breaks our hearts that we have to do this, but I just don't know what else to do. Please respond via text or email to set up a time to meet Jackson if you're interested. Thanks.
