About Holland

Papillon / Fox Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Holland could be that dream come true pup for a family or retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet companion. The Papillon/Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, very sweet and fun-loving family companion. Holland's story is all too common in her family's decision to relinquish her to a high-kill shelter through no fault of her own. Holland was being harassed by the family's other dog and they made the decision that Holland must go. Her initially shy, then engaging temperament lead her to ultimately become a friend with almost everyone at the shelter..and a favorite lap dog in the shelter office. Holland could be that dream come true pup for a family or retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet companion. The Papillon/Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, very sweet and fun-loving family companion. Holland is in the process of leaving behind the challenges that made up her early life. At about 9 months old and 9 lbs (anticipated to be full-grown at about 10 - 12 lbs), Holland is a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would love to see Holland in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very social once comfortable and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Holland would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Holland would also do great in a family with very gentle, dog-loving children who are old enough to understand that a 9 lb dog needs to be handled with care and love. Holland doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Holland's Kansas rescuer had the following to say about this sweet and lovable girl: I'm the luckiest rescuer in Kansas to have the short-term friendship of Holland! She's amazing...after she's comfortable (it takes just a short time) there's no dog that's sweeter or kinder! I brought her around 3 small, friendly dogs today and she was absolutely fine. In true Holland form - she was shy for a minute, then very sweet and appropriate. Not an ounce of aggression or ill-will anywhere in this girl. I definitely think she would be a gift to any family including dog-crazy older kids...they just must understand her small size and to never be rough with her. I can't say for absolutely certain, but Holland may initially be timid...but not to worry - she comes around to be the ultimate snuggler. Holland would be perfect for someone who wants a true best friend...and is a great size and temperament to be able to go anywhere. Holland loves me so much that she's happy to be with me at all times and is definitely my little cuddle bug. Holland is a lightly shedding pup (although it's very difficult to tell until she gets a much needed bath and brushing). With great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and coat care) and a commitment to periodic grooming, Holland will have a cottony-soft, shining and very heatlhy coat. We've requested that Holland be spayed prior to her transport to CoColorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for her spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Holland will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 8/7/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and cuddly best friend. An app can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Holland, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
