About Scout

Scout came to us after July 4th when many dogs, fearing the chaos humans create that day, flee their homes. Scout had not been well cared for before that and no one came looking for him at the shelter. He was emaciated, dirty, covered in one of the worst tick infestations we had ever seen and was quite nervous. Scout was likely bought as a puppy from a breeder who gave his new family no idea of what kind of needs he would have, then relegated to the backyard when he became 'too difficult'. Scout is not difficult if you are an experienced handler of his type of dog, and wants more than anything to be with and please his people. He is steadily gaining weight, tested negative for any tick borne or other illnesses and is ready to meet an adopter who is knowledgeable at caring for an energetic and highly intelligent canine companion.
