A VERY SPECIAL, SPECIAL-NEEDS GIRL NEEDS A HOME Stormy D. is a 4-5 year old redbone coonhound. Although we don't know for sure, she seems to have spent most of those years having and raising puppies. When she was picked up by Duplin County Animal Control, she must have had a large litter of 7-8 week old puppies somewhere. She was so debilitated and arthritic, she could hardly walk and lay around at the shelter for over a week. She is both heartworm and erhlichea positive but is being treated for both conditions and doing well. She also has auto-immune arthritis which is being controlled by steroids. She will have to remain on steroids indefinitely. Stormy spent her first couple of weeks in foster care recuperating and just working on getting stronger. She is now getting along great and can run and even jump into the van. Even though she was over-bred and not cared for, she loves everyone and is the sweetest, most appreciative dog you will ever meet. She is housebroken, walks well on a leash, sits on command, and gets along with cats, dogs, kids, and horses. She was spayed in June. She loves to go for walks, right now over a mile. She still needs lots of TLC. If interested, call Naomi Johnson at (910) 528-6588.
