READ ENTIRE POST I will not respond to those that obviously didn't. About a month ago I was found by a wandering pit-bull during my nightly walk with my dog. No collar, no tag, no microchip. After exhaustive searches and postings looking for his owner turned up absolutely no results, and the legal time frame passed for me to be by law considered his owner, I took him to get his shots, dewormed, neutered and micro-chipped. He is now ready for a new home as I just don't have the space for him and he is just too big and playful for my mini schnauzer. I do have requirements for the new family and there is a non negotiable rehoming fee. I have gone to great lengths and spent a fair amount of money making sure this dog does not end up at the county shelter, I wont have him go a bad home after all that. About him We have named him Darwin, as in Darwin Award. The reason being, in classic pibble form, he is just a big clumsy doofus with no concept of his size or anything around him. Darwin is roughly 1 year old and still very much a puppy. He is smart and trainable if you can convince him to care about what you want him to do. That said, he is a puppy still. Pits don't grow out of that chewing, clumsy puppy stage until at least 2 yrs old usually. He absolutely will chew things you do not want him to if he is left unsupervised. I've lost a couple pairs of shoes and four tape rolls and many other things in minutes when I left the room. Usually right next to the toys I bought to give him things to chew. He is very large. He weighed in at 67 pounds at the vet. He has no concept of this and will step on your feet and anything else on the ground. This includes small dogs that can be injured. He loves to cuddle on the couch, whether you want to or not. He is NOT aggressive at all. He has been around my 9 year daughter and my 13 pound schnauzer. He loves people and will rush and jump to love on them. At 67 pounds this can be very problematic if you can't control him. He will knock people over. Especially bad if small children are involved. He is very strong and just wants to play. But he doesn't understand how big he is and that he can hurt others. The only times I've had issues with him and my dog was during feeding or when they had treats. You can grab food and anything right out of Darwin's mouth and he will not so much as growl, but he gets a bit jealous and territorial with other dogs sometimes. If you have other dogs, feedings and treats MUST be kept separate and supervised until both are done. He absolutely must be an inside dog. He doesn't seem to tolerate heat well and will not do well if left outside all day. Plus, he was a stray once, no reason to risk him escaping again. He also can't swim. Truly. He sinks, we tried. If you have a pool he cannot be around it alone. If he falls in he will drown. He is truly a very very sweet dog that just wants loves and a home. He knows sit and shake. He will sit for treats, at the door for walks, for anything he wants you to give him. We are working on lay down but progress is slow so far. He is great on car rides. We took him camping in Payson with us recently and he wasn't a problem at all. He is not overly active really. He would rather curl up on the couch than go for a walk or run. He doesn't seem to thrilled about hiking or anything like that. He isn't the kind of dog to join you on your morning run or hike or bike ride. But he will be happy to flop on you on the couch when you get back. If my house was bigger he would stay with us forever but I just don't have the proper space. Darwin will come with: his large crate for at night and when you leave the house. (48'x 30'x 33') a couple blankets any food I have at the time his toys his padded harness and leash records of shots and neuter Requirements and survey questions found here https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/pet/6657945641.html
