About Beaming Betsy

This graceful lady deserves a forever home in her senior years of life. 'Beaming Betsy'�'�|Beamer for short is a beautiful Harlequin colored, seven year old, purebred Great Dane and was affectionately named after her former-owner's initials: BMW. Being a retired breeding dame, Beaming Betsy was a wonderful momma-dog- having over 50 puppies in four litters. She lived on a working farm with four other Danes and was a protector to all sorts of large and small farm animals. She's great with cats, and gets along well with small dogs, or any dog that isn't dominant. She doesn't like to compete for food, and prefers to eat alone (has shown food aggression). Now she enjoys her food on a flat surface like a large baking sheet. Her water bowl should be placed on a towel if she lives indoors since she tends to toss extra water out of the bowl as she drinks. Beamer is good in a family environment and likes children. Her former owner had to downsize the farm and move, so a dog-loving familiar-family-friend is fostering Beamer until she can be adopted. She loves affection and will return-the-love by leaning on you with her full-body body weight. She's a happy and healthy girl; mild mannered; calm; and for the most part quiet. She has had the term 'regal and stately' used to describe her when being first met by a stranger. She really enjoys living indoors, is fully housetrained and will softly whine when she needs to go out. She does okay on a leash, but occasionally likes to roam in a back yard or open space if possible. Thunderstorms terrify her so she'll need to be inside to feel safe. She loves to be sweet-talked. She has a small toy she lovingly knows as her 'little blue baby'. She'll nurture it from time to time, and will search for it when asked about it. She's a wonderful dog. Spayed, micro-chipped, and up to date on shots.
