The Cairn Terrier/Yorkshire Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their great intelligence, devoted temperaments and extremely loving ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and generally very kind and playful with family members and other dogs. Austin is just a young guy who is learning about the ways of the world. He loves his long walks with his foster and is learning socialization skills a bit each day...he's a very engaging and cuddly guy! At any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count Austin in! Terriers are known to engage joyfully and energetically and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans and canines. Austin is a cute as can be.. and a very sweet guy who favors the look and loyalty of the both the Cairn and Yorkshire Terriers. Austin's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Austin is friendly (while perhaps initially shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a close companion. You know when a loved one approaches, Austin's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Austin goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Austin is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of the Terrier breed. At just about 18 months old and 17 lbs (perfect size to love being a hiking companion on the Colorado mountain trails), Austin seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his earlier life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Austin in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a forever home that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Austin would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Austin would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, walking beautiful Colorado trails and even riding shotgun running errands. Austin doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs. Austin will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to healthy and well-balanced pups. While we've requested that Austin be neutered/microchipped prior to transport to Colorado, we're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for neuter /microchip if our Denver vet is used. Austin will be arriving on transport in Boulder in early to mid August (we'll update with exact date when it's finalized).
