About Sam

I would like you to meet Sam. He was surrendered to us last Thursday night. His family had to move in a hurry and ended up choosing a home that wouldn't allow rottweilers ����. They told me that Sam is 4 years old and that they had owned him for 2 years, but I suspect that Sam may be much older. He appears to be around 6-7 years old to me, but who am I to say? Anyway, Sam is an easy, go with the flow, kind of guy. The only time he seems to get overly excited is when he sees another dog when he is on a leash. Off-leash, he couldn't care less. King Kong even gave him a little kiss through the gate a little while ago and Sam seemed to even enjoy it. I have a feeling that maybe when Sam was younger he had a friend that acted like that when he was on a leash, and Sam just kind of thinks that is what you are supposed to do when you see other dogs. Sam went on the pack walk with us last Thursday and by the time we made it back, he was pretty calm with the other dogs and we were pretty close together. His previous family was scared of how he acted so have avoided other dogs. I think with a proper introduction to a friendly dog, he would do just fine. He loves people. He is great with kids! He is mellow and will hang out in the house all day by himself and just wait for you to come home. He is potty trained, crate trained, and knows his obedience commands fairly well.
