About PARKER

Adoption Fee: $50
Lab / American Bulldog
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Parker is a 7-year-old American Bulldog/Lab mix. He is such a sweet boy and I really do love him. Nothing is better than coming home to an excited dog who loves you unconditionally. He loves to do laps around the yard, tell the squirrels who's boss and then end the day snuggled under covers. I have known Parker since he was 4 years old as he was living with another couple. All three of us had been living together for a year and a half when they broke up, we all decided it was best for him that he stays here in Colorado with me. At the time, I had a community of people who were available to help care for Parker if I was stuck at work late, traveling, or just couldn't get home in time. I do not have that support anymore. There are also some disclosures about his behavior that makes him a tough dog to care for. We have seen a few vets and they say he has allergies, this causes him to lick or chew at any given part of his body at least until it bleeds. Not sure if it is food or environmental allergies. I have tried the Apoquel pill but it made him sick just about every other day. I also tried the shots (Cytopoint), they worked for awhile and began to use their effectiveness. I am not sure what the solution is, so until then, I have him in a cone while he cannot be watched. He has been dog-aggressive since I've known him. His past owner said it started when he began traveling more for work and Parker was in Doggy Daycare. Since then, it has only progressed. I am not sure how he is with other pets. In November 2017, Parker bit 2 different people on 2 different occasions. None of which are OK, but at the same time have somewhat of an explanation. 1- Male approached Parker while he was eating in his home and grabbed his hips. About an hour, said male got down on Parkers level and gave him a bear hug around his neck which resulted in male being bit in the neck. *Mark was left 2- Male was being aggressive with Parker in some play. Continued to escalate and as Parker walked away from male, male approached Parker resulting in Parker biting male just above the eye. *Mark was left 3- This situation involved a child, they had been playing all morning, when the child approached the rear of Parker, he turned around and snipped at him. *No mark was left I am looking for a new home for Parker. Someone who has the resources, time and money to give him the best life possible.
