About Jack

Adoption Fee: $20
Border Collie mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

A heart of gold and a great listener. I rescued Jack from a shelter in 2009. They estimated that he was about 2 years old at the time. He's a Border Collie mix and has been an important part of my life for the last 9 years. He's level of loyalty is unmatched. He's very submissive and absolutely loves to love anything with a heartbeat (except for rodents, he's caught a few mice in the yard). It pains me greatly to have to re-home him, but as our family has grown, so too has his level of anxiety in our small house. It is no longer best for him to be living in our situation, unfortunately. Jack would really thrive on a ranch, farm, or house with a good size yard (fenced). He is good either alone or with other animals, cats included. He loves our cat. He is very compliant and loves to please. He complies with the following commands: 'Sit' 'Stay' 'Lay down' 'Eat your food' 'Speak' 'Come on' (come) 'Go on' (go) Things to be aware of: -Loud noises such as fireworks cause him anxiety. -He is an escape artist. For a fenced yard, he will generally be fine, but if he finds a way out, he will continue to exploit that exit in any way he can. This is one of the reasons I think he'd do so well on a farm or ranch type property. He also loves to run. A training collar has also proven to be effective at correcting attempts to get out of the yard -He is incredibly loving, but is not aware of his actions enough that he can be around babies. He has not had a problem with our 2 boys, who are 3 and 6, but he has accidentally made our baby cry by not watching his step. Jack is an amazing dog and has the biggest heart I've ever seen. He deserves a person/family who will be able to meet his needs, so if you are not that person/family, please do not inquire. Jack will not be re-homed to any families or situations which are not good for him. If you have a small house, or especially a small yard, please do not inquire. I will have to verify the conditions in which you are stating Jack will live in. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you.
