About Rugby

Hi, my name is Rugby. I'm a Boxer/Pittie mix in need of a new home. Now...I don't play rugby, and I don't watch rugby...actually I don't understand rugby, but having it as my name is pretty SWEEEET!! I dig it!! Things are a little rough for me right now, and it's not working out where I currently live. I'm not seeing eye-to-eye with the little dogs. I'm stressed out over my current situation so I've become protective and don't play nice with other dogs that come into my territory. My family works all day and I'm by myself in the crate. I'm very lonely as I'd much rather be with people. It's not much fun to be cooped up in my crate all day long. I want to get outside and play, run around, and maybe even do some laps in my kiddie pool. I LOVE the water!! I am not a fan of little dogs, but I sure get along with cats. I live with 3 cats and one of them cleans my ears in the morning! Its like having a personal groomer. I love being with people, and would be happiest being the only dog getting all the attention. Cuddling is my all-time favorite activity. I'm somewhat of a couch potato, but still enjoy taking walks. I'm house-trained, and know my basic commands of sit, down, and turn. Would you believe I'm a bit famous? I have my own chapter in a book written by Amy Sutherland titled Rescuing Penny Jane (Ch 12). Loud booms of thunder and crashes of lightning don't thrill me. I will need you to help me feel safe since I get a little scared. If you can cuddle with me and tell me everything is going to be cool we can comfort each other, ok? Oh yeah, those pesky recycling trucks are to doggone loud for me. They scare me a little when they stop by but thankfully its only once a week. PHEW! The best scenario to help me succeed is to be the only dog in the home with a fenced yard to play fetch, smell the roses, and who knows...maybe there'll be a kiddie pool where I can work on my doggie paddle. I am a strong and healthy boy, and a good walker on leash. Just a reminder, I don't do well with other dogs in my house but when going for walks I can easily be managed with other dogs outside of my territory. Giving and receiving affection are high on my priority list. I would love to be part of a family that wants to share their time and love with me.
