About Finch

Finch came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue from a shelter in California where he had been hit by a car and left unclaimed. He had hip surgery, then boarded a plane for Idaho. You will be so glad he did as this guy is a barrel of fun! Bold, daring and full of life Finch is a diamond in the rough. He is eager to please, very treat motivated and would LOVE to go to a puppy class. He is a bit of a bull in a china shop at the moment but when you get him to focus he walks nicely on a leash (but this takes some work) and settles nicely. He does pull like a draft horse when he first goes out to walk so he really needs an owner who can handle this strength. He will need twice a day walks - runs would be better. He'd be the perfect running/hiking partner and is always up for adventure; so he'd love to be with a family that camps and does daily outings. Finch also loves water so a wading pool in the yard for those hot days is a great distraction for him. Finch is house trained, crate trained and is doing great with the sit command. He just needs someone to smooth out the puppy edges. He has fairly good house manners but has been known to chew on a shoe if he's bored and doesn't have appropriate things to chew on. Remember he may be 45 pounds but he's all puppy. But don't get us wrong there is a soft side to him also; a good cuddle on the couch after a long day is right up his alley. He really is perfect in every way just needs time to grow up. And remember he will need to attend positive rewards puppy classes with a trainer - we highly recommend Bad Behavior/Good Dog. He is good with other dogs but likes to play rough so would do best with a dog that meets his energy level. He's so-so with cats, he will chase them once in awhile. We would not put him with kids under 12 due to his energy level.
