About Brinks

Pit Bull / Ibizan Hound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Brinks. Her story is sad and is from her mom. We are helping Brinks' mom re-home her because it's the right thing to do. Please help us share Brinks for a great owner. This is my pup Brinks and this our story. My husband Daryl and I got Brinks when she was around eight to ten weeks old. My husband found her behind the 7 Eleven on 35 and Laureland. He assumed that she belonged to the people who lived in the houses behind there and when he knocked on a few doors no one claimed her so he brought her home. The next day I took her to the vet where we take our cat to see if she had a microchip. She did not and they gave us two options. Four years later she still wears the last name Thompson. I've read about people having to give up their dog due to a life changing event and I can vividly remember thinking 'how could they'? 'That is their dog'|they've had him/her since a puppy'|.I could never do that'. Then it happened to me. On 3 May 2018, my husband Daryl was killed in a car accident on the way to work. On 3 May 2018 my life changed forever. I never would have thought in a million years in a million life times that I would be that person. Now four years later I am that person. I am in the process of selling my home because I can not afford it alone and I have no other family here. I am moving back to Charlotte to live with my brother and his wife while he is on deployment in Iraq. My hopes for Brinks. I hope that Brinks will find a family that will love her just as much as I do. A family that will take her for walks, laugh at her silliness, and let her ride in the car with the windows down. I hope they will understand that she thinks she is 10lbs and not 85. That she will jump on you when she is excited but she has never jumped on a child. She is house trained and will go to the door and sit when she needs to go out. She doesn't quite get the concept ball. Although ball is life you actually have to chase her. No matter where you are at home if you are eating she will hear you and she will find you. That her bark matches her size but so does her heart. Her best friend is a cat named Carmel and she likes other dogs as long as they are smaller. I hope that they will understand that she is not a perfect dog but she is perfect for them. I also hope that they will understand that this is a hard reminder of the accident that got us both to this point. They have gained a great dog and I have lost one. I hope that from time to time they will send me a picture or an email to let me know she is ok. I hope they will never experience a life changing event but if they do they will reach out to me and let me know so that if I am in a position to take her back I can or help them in anyway. I never want her to go to the pound or be tied to someones tree. I have raised her as a house dog and would like for her to remain one.
