About Hazel

OK dog nation, we have a special dog for adoption who is going to require a special home! This is Hazel, a 2 year old, 12 pound Chihuahua something mix! There are many differing opinions on what that mix may be but, regardless, she is a beautiful girl! We picked Hazel up from the shelter some time ago where she had been turned in as a stray. In the spirit of full disclosure, let's just say that Hazel has a couple of quirks! Her biggest issue is that she will climb a fence and get out in a heartbeat, but she doesn't seem to want to get away as much as get free. When she sees her foster mom she comes immediately back to her yard and is happy to see her but she will climb right back out again in a heartbeat! She can scale a chain link fence with ease but we believe a 6 foot privacy fence will contain her as long as it's not one where she can get an easy foothold. The other option for a good home for her will be with someone who will always take her out on a leash. She does enjoy walking on a leash! Second quirk: Hazel is very wary of new people and does take her some time to warm up. We don't know if it's because of something that happened to her before we got her but she will require someone willing to give her time and patience until she learns to trust and bond. Once she does, she is a very loving and sweet girl who won't want to leave your side! We don't think a home with kids (younger than teens) is ideal for her as she's very much a one person dog, although she does get along well with other dogs. Hazel is also high energy and needs someone who can keep up with her. Sounds like a lot to ask right? She deserves a loving home and we know that there is always someone out there for every dog so we are confident that someone has the heart and home for this gorgeous girl! To that end, special consideration will be given to the adopter who has the ideal home for Hazel. We just want her to be happy and safe for the rest of her life!
