About Saber(RM)

Adoption Fee: $100
Ibizan Hound / Pharaoh Hound
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Saber Saber is a lovely dog. We can't believe that this poor pup has been with us for a whole year. We pulled her from Animal Control when her time was up and brought her in on June 28, 2018. A year is too long for an energetic young dog to be confined to a concrete kennel. We are so hopeful we can find her a forever loving home soon. Saber arrived when she was just nine months old, she's now 1.9 years old. She was found wandering all alone and was picked up by AC as a stray. Saber is a delightful dog. She is full of energy and just wishes to have a good time. One of our shelter staff has especially fallen in love with Saber, of course we all love her, but this young girl is working with Saber on her manners. So important and just what she needs! Thanks to Saber's hero, Saber has learned sit, she's learned stay, she's learned to not jump as much and she's learning how to walk well on a leash. Saber has a fun-loving nature and she loves playing with other dogs. Saber is what we call a dog's dog. If given the chance she'll romp and run in the yard with her friends. She especially loves the water and on any hot day you can find her in the kiddie pool out in the yard. We don't know exactly what Saber's breed is, but she looks like she is a mix of Ibizan hound and shepherd. She has a beautiful short-haired tan and cream colored coat. She has lovely hazel eyes that show her inquisitiveness. She is of medium build and weighs about 45 pounds. She's super smart and with patience and consistency she's proven she learns quickly. Saber would do well with an active owner. With her love of water, taking her to the lake for a swim would great and with her energy level she'd make for a good running or hiking companion. Saber is not considered child friendly, but we think it's because she's a little too exuberant for children and may overwhelm them. We don't think it's anything to do with aggression, but may be more to do with her jumping to gain attention. We can certainly test that for potential adopters. Saber's been alone and overlooked for so long, who can blame her that she wants someone to call her own. As Saber matures and with consistent training and lots of love, she'll calm down. Saber just wants to belong. If you're looking for a terrific companion, come meet our Saber. You will be richly rewarded with never-ending love and loyalty.
