Meet Daizy We have no idea why sweet Daizy is still at the shelter. She is an absolutely wonderful dog. We pulled Daizy from Animal Control on June 21, 2018 when her time was up. For more than a year, she's been a joy and delight to have as our guest, but we want more than anything for her to find her forever loving home. Daizy is one of the sweetest dogs we've met. She is thought to be a Shar-Pei/Retriever mix. Daizy is a little over three years old and weighs 57 pounds. She's a big girl full of love and playfulness. She seems to be a dog's dog and loves to play with other dogs as long as they are friendly and don't intimidate her. Unfortunately for Daizy whenever she is paired with the perfect yard mate and all seems good, her yard mate gets adopted. Poor Daizy it seems is always the bridesmaid and never the bride. But she doesn't give up and gamely continues making new doggie friends. Daizy loves attention. She loves being with people and she loves being petted. While Daizy enjoys going for walks, she is strong and pulls a bit. She needs a strong and steady hand to walk her. Daizy doesn't like cats or small animals and will likely give chase if given the chance. Daizy is always up for fun and has a lot of energy. Given her young age, Daizy needs space to run and exercise. But, like all good athletes, once Daizy has expended some energy she'll calmly lay down and relax. Daizy is smart and eager to please. She'll respond to commands if they're given with consistency...and treats are always appreciated. With a little patience, a lot of love and plenty of exercise, Daizy will make for a great family dog. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4.
