About Titus

Hello, I'm sure you get hundreds of emails a day asking for help, but if someone happens to read this email, please know this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. My name is Dakota and I own this beautiful,strong, loving, ham named Titus. I've owned Titus since he was a small puppy and let me tell you, I love this dog more than anything in the world. He is my absolute best friend. When I adopted him I originally got him for my ex boyfriend at the time. Well, my ex didn't like him so he became my dog and I am so thankful he did. When I say that Titus has saved my life many times- I mean this animal has truly saved my life. My ex boyfriend was very physically abusive to me, and just like a small child, this abuse affected Titus. As Titus grew older and stronger he would many times attack my ex when he was hurting me. Many times I woke up in the middle of the night on a cold kitchen floor, bruised and beaten up and the only one that was there, the only one who made sure I was okay, was my baby, Titus. Fast forward three years later, we are living on our own, I'm 10 months pregnant, and someone tried to break into our house; if it was not for titus's agressive barking and jumping on the doors, I truly believe the person would have entered the home- who knows what would have happened then. Titus, isn't just an animal to me, he's my savior, my protector, my snuggle buddy, and my ESA. We recently had a horrible accident happen at our apartment; I was taking Titus outside, and a lady was sitting behind the door smoking a cigarette; Titus didn't see her at first and neither did I. When he did notice her, he started to sniff her, as I went to pull him away the lady jerked her body because he startled her, and he bit her. He bit her once and dropped her arm- he knows he messed up, but that doesn't change what happened. It's all my fault. I take complete blame for his reactions. You see, after I left my abusive relationship, Titus became very protective of me, especially after I got pregnant. Instead of correcting his overly protective behavior, I smothered him with love. I thought I could love the pain out of him, I thought If I gave him all the love I had in my heart, I thought it would heal him and make him forget what we have gone through together. It's turned out that my smothering of love and kisses- it made it worse for him. I believe for Titus, he is always living in that fear that something is going to happen to me, so he is always on edge, ready to protect me. This dog is only 2, almost 3- he has so much life to live, and so much love to give. He's the best snuggler in the world, and he always kisses away the pain, his smile is infectious, and you can see the love in his eyes. You see, he saved my life multiple times, I have to try to save his- I owe it to him. I have talked to the PA of Emporia , KS; she has agreed to let Titus go to a rescue where they will help him heal, as long as he doesn't come back to the city of Emporia. I hate to surrender my baby, but I don't want him to die. After everything this boy has gone through in such a small part of his life, he deserves a second chance. The lady at the local animal shelter here in Emporia, told me about you guys; she said you have helped them in the past with a bite situation and you rescued the dog. Please, please, please, I am begging- please help my dog. I understand what I'm asking for is close to impossible, but I have to try, if you cannot help me, can you please send me to someone who can?
