About Shirley

Chihuahua mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Sometimes when we adopt a pet we are looking for the 'perfect pet' to fit into our lives. Perhaps we are looking for a playmate for an existing pet. Sometimes we are looking for a hiking buddy or a lap-warmer. But, sometimes, we are feel moved to chose a pet, not for what they can add to our lives, but because we can add something to theirs. Shirley is a sweet senior nearing the end of her life . . . who finds herself in need a home. Shirley is a 15lb 12-14 year-old female Chihuahua-mix. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. She has a few conditions that often accompany aging. Shirley has a right 'cherry-eye' and a dry-eye that is treated daily with eye drops. She needs dental work. She has a heart murmur that could complicate surgery. And, Shirley was also diagnosed with mammary cancer. But, Shirley doesn't know that she's afflicted. She still has a sweet disposition and a healthy appetite. Shirley is a very amiable dog. Quiet, mellow, affectionate and well-behaved, Shirley wants nothing more than to cuddle on your lap or nap in her heated bed. Shirley is housetrained and has free-run of the house when her people are out. She potty's very nicely outdoors and was also trained to use puppy-pads inside. Shirley is being fostered with other dogs and while she is fine with them, she doesn't interact with them and would prefer to be your only dog. She does, however, love the family rabbit-their interactions are 'comical!' The only thing Shirley doesn't like is the vacuum cleaner. Start that beast up and she will attack that monster-then, apparently having done her job of putting the vacuum on notice, she goes back to sleep. Sweet, silly, senior Shirley may not have years left to give you, but you can be sure that she will love you like there's no tomorrow for as long as she can.
