About Achilles

Achilles is depressed. He is done with the kennel. The firework activity has him stressed- alone in his run listening to what sounds like a war zone. He wants a home. He wants to snuggle with his human who will tell him everything is going to be alright. He does get interest and applications. He somehow knows over the last month - twice - he was a best man- other dogs were a better fit for the homes. We are very careful to adopt into the right homes. We do not always get it right but we certainly try very hard. The dogs who were selected have been exuberant and happy while their new people come for handling lessons. It is an emotional thing to experience for me (Jen) personally- dogs wanting to hug me - they know they are almost out of there and then this poor soul Achilles. He looks into my eyes as if to say what gives Jen? You took me under your rescue almost a year ago and I am still waiting. I am a good dog. Why the hell can't you find me a home? I don't have an answer but I left today in tears. Waiting for five plus years in total - his lifetime. Pulled by a Rescue off the NYC Urgent list- abandoned in boarding- picked up by another rescue and sent to training last year. Allied Dog Training and I wanted to put him under our wing and give him a chance to go to the right home. We are FAILING like everyone else has. Achilles is cat friendly and can live with a calm submissive dog. Older kids as we do not know his history. He is fully trained in off leash obedience and comes with lifetime support from our trainers. He has no resource guarding- toys or food. He is fully vetted.
