About Bella

Bella, is a sweet dog with a LOT of energy. She has proven to do well with other dogs as well as cats, adult humans and children, however she also has an aggressive side. She will only let you take something from her when she wants it taken away, she will only stop what she is doing when she is ready to stop, any outside interference and she has been known to growl, snarl and snap. She would do better in a family with older children, she appears to feel threatened by children who stand about eye level with her and are loud and rambunctious. We took her in as a favor to someone with the understanding that it would only be for 10 days, she has now been with us for a little over a month and the previous owners have indicated that they have no desire to take her back. She has had a rough start, her first homeowners abused her and she was left tied to a tree with no food or water, was kicked repeatedly and dragged across concrete. Her 2nd owners rescued her from her abusers, they have 4 young children and a baby on the way, they live in a small home and just didn't have the room for a big high energy dog such as Bella. Her 3rd owner took her in when she heard that she was going to the shelter within 24hrs if they didn't find another home and now she is here with us. We have a 2 y/o black lab that Bella will play with, it did take a while for her to socialize but with time and patience they now get along though there are times Bella will play way too rough and will occasionally get aggressive. We have 2 cats, one of whom ignores Bella, the other Bella will chase around the house and then give up. She doesn't try to attack, if anything she is the one to back away. Bella will make a great companion for someone, I would just highly recommend that she not go anywhere with young children. We have a Granddaughter on the way, I will be providing her daycare and that is the primary reason for rehoming Bella, I simply don't trust her around a baby / toddler.
