About Merlin

Hi there... I'm Merlin. I'm waiting for someone to notice me. I met some great pals when I was in the shelter. They said black dogs like me are handsome - but in the south where I'm from, not many people stop by to visit us. There's this thing called Black Dog Syndrome that makes us invisible to some. A few really nice people at the shelter could see me and I would show them my best tricks each time they walked by. Ole' Jack in the cage next to me said that's the way to get picked. He said I want to get picked so I can go into a home with nice people who feed me every day, teach me new things, talk to me and pat my head. One day a nice person who could see me came to my cage and was very excited. She said VT Dog Rescue had picked me!!! I was going to a very cool place where people love black dogs and where there was a home for me. A home... for ME! Merlin is 3-4 months old and super sweet. He's laid back, loves to cuddle and has brief moments of puppy energy. He is great with other dogs and is at a great age to be introduced to cats. Merlin is crate trained and working on his house breaking skills. We do not provide DNA testing which is the only way to know with certainty which breeds are in Merlin's genetic background. Our best guess is that he is a Lab mixed with a smaller breed dog. We expect him to reach 40-50 lbs as an adult. We do require proof of this procedure at a later date as part of the terms of our Adoption Agreement. Please discuss the correct time for this to be done with your veterinarian. We can provide a $75 rebate once the procedure is completed. Our adoption fee is $375 which includes age appropriate vaccines (such as Distemper, Bordetella, Parvo, Rabies), worming, micro- chipping, and health exam. Discount vouchers for training, grooming and similar dog related products and services are provided. NEW: First vet visit is now FREE with participating VT veterinarians.
