About Oslo-ADOPTION PENDING

Westie / Scottish Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

The very first thing that Oslo the Terrier mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In these photos, you're not aware of the scruffy pure white of his gorgeous coat. Oslo will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and coat care) to keep his hair healthy, cottony-soft and matt free. Everything is new to Oslo...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then, before you know it, Oslo is on your lap or cuddling close to his favorite people. Life hasn't been easy for this beautiful guy. He was found lying at the side of a busy New Mexico highway. It was initially thought that Oslo had been hit by a car, but it was quickly determined that he had heat stroke. It was an incredibly hot New Mexico day with no access to water when Oslo was found. It was just great luck that our rescuer came upon him and immediately reacted in exactly the right way. Oslo spent that night (and every night since) lying close beside his rescuer..now foster mom. Oslo is so happy with his foster family because his relationships are so important to him. As a result of unkind handling and homelessness, Oslo may be initially a bit shy. Once he's assured that all is well, he'll snuggle close and show his very engaging personality and sweet temperament. This 12 -18 month old Westie/Scottie mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. Oslo is such a great age and size...old enough to be past puppyish behaviors and young enough to have a very long, healthy life ahead. He's also the perfect weight to take along on every adventure. Hiking the amazing trails of Colorado would speak to this very sweet and fun-loving guy. We feel that Oslo is too sensitive to be left alone while his family works full-time outside of the home. He would do better with a family that's retired, works part-time or works from the home. Another possibility is a family that's willing to use the services of a dog walker, doggie daycare or a dog-crazy neighbor or relative. Being a Terrier, Oslo loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He's such a great guy and would be thrilled to come along everywhere an awesome little dog is welcome. Playing at the park, visiting with friends or fine-tuning his urban skills shopping on Pearl Street would speak to the engaging nature of this sweet little dog. Oslo would be overjoyed to walk along neighborhood paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. He can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil of his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned. Oslo's basic nature is to be very joyful and positive.. and in just a moment, his silly and fun-loving personality takes over. This positive attitude will be very valuable in positive reinforcement group training class. It does take some effort from his family but pays off a thousand times over when your canine best friend can accompany you with great behavior everywhere a well-behaved dog is welcome. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. While we've requested that Oslo be neutered/microchipped prior to his arrival in Denver, we're not optimistic that this will occur. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all charges for Oslo's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Oslo is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 7/28/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, engaging and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Oslo, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
