MEET OREO | ADOPTION PENDING (FTA) | SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ONLY | EMAIL: [email protected] --- We just can't get enough of this adorable blind face whose cute puppy head tilt is on point! Please meet OREO from Mexico, a beautiful sightless pup with soft curly fur born on December 30th last year. We're so lucky to have a willing foster home to help us save this amazing dog from a worse fate south of the border. He's a special heart dog for sure. Oreo arrived in his foster home at the beginning of March and has been doing incredibly well - so well that we've decided to make him available for adoption now instead of waiting. He's still going thru his limited vaccine series and growing to be big enough for neuter, and then there's the eyes ... BUT. We feel it's almost criminal to keep this baby boy in foster care and away from his future forever family, because that fam is missing out on some of the BEST shared moments with this incredible guy. It's been so fun watching him grow and getting to work with him, watching him learn his sightless way around, experiencing the world through his visionless existence. People feel sorry for him but we don't. He doesn't know what he's missing so he doesn't let it bother him. Why should we bring that damper to his life? Oreo definitely has a sixth sense that guides him in the manner of so many who are born different. He has so much potential and we're excited for his future. He's a happy go lucky puppy just like any other pup (except suuuuper well behaved!!) who reminds us all - Life is short, play hard no matter what. The Rescue Lady has a big wishlist for Oreo so here it is: * a family with at least one person who is home almost all the time * a friendly, balanced, confident, cuddly, playful companion dog or few (of any size) * parents who believe in the best canine nutrition and will maintain Oreo's raw diet with nutritious supplements - for life; and a vet who supports you * parents willing to think outside the traditional western veterinary box, who will not overload this baby with too many unnecessary and harmful vaccines in his lifetime, or too many unnecessary pharmaceuticals, etc. * parents who are willing to embrace a more holistic way of caring for our furry family members, who are always looking for more information and research, in an effort to keep our furkids cancer and disease free and living longer, healthier lives * a secure, private enclosed yard to enjoy and roll around in - with pals of course * older respectful, responsible kids welcome * cats welcome too but a canine pal is a must. She wants you to know that Oreo is: * 6.6+ lbs. on March 30, growing like a weed and a hearty eater! * of unknown DNA so no idea how big he'll be at adult * really easy to care for * 100% puppy pee bucket trained * excellent in his puppy fort (ex-pen setup) * sleeps thru the night, excellent for baths, extremely responsive to vocal anything and uses ears first, learning to use his brain (nose) more with interactive toys and flower essences is totally hilarious and entertaining and adorably affectionate and sweet and eager to please and smart to boot and sometimes a spaz :) will likely need enucleation when he's big enough; rescue will provide THE BESSSSSTTTTT BLIND BABY BOY IN THE WORLD! Let us know if you'd like to meet this inspiring, entertaining, handicapable, loving little nugget! --- To view more photos and pupdates on Oreo please visit Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/waggingdogrescue/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1836845103006649 --- UPDATE 08/18/18: Oreo has an adoption pending and is now in a Foster-To-Adopt (FTA) period with a potential adopter. During this period, the adopter and dog have a chance to try each other out and make sure this is a perfect match. If things don't work out, the dog will return to the rescue and be able to meet with other adopters. Otherwise, the adopter can finalize the adoption at the end of the FTA period or any time during, at which time our dog listing will be removed. Meanwhile, we are still accepting applications and encourage you to contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in giving this dog a loving home.
