About Dewey

We'd like to introduce you to a very special little boy. This is Dewey. He is about 3 years old or so. He is a very small fellow, probably no more than 20 pounds or so. Since he is such a special boy, we are looking for an equally special adopter! Dewey is very timid. The shelter environment seems to make him nervous, so we are working hard with him to teach him he is safe and loved. It takes Dewey time to acclimate to new people. When he starts to get comfortable, we've seen little glimpses that, underneath being afraid and scared, he actually has a great personality! He will walk up to new friends, give kisses, and get all waggy-tailed! This sweet boy just needs a bit more time than other pooches. So we are looking for a patient and caring adopter. One who will help Dewey adjust at his own pace but will also make sure he progresses. Regarding kiddos, Dewey can be a bit snappy when he is uncomfortable. He would do best with adults only in the home. But! With other friendly and relaxed dogs, Dewey also seems to relax! He has done best with other medium/small dogs. But we really think that if the resident pup is easy-going, regardless of size, Dewey would enjoy their company! When you come into the shelter to visit him, please keep in mind that he is much different outside of his kennel. Once he is calm and trusts you, Dewey is snuggly, loving, gentle, affectionate, and truly is such a fantastic dog! If you think you're a fit! Please give us a call or stop on by! He is so worth it!
