About Penny

Adoption Fee: $300
Dachshund / Miniature Pinscher
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet our little Penny. She might be short in stature, but she has an enormous personality. Penny is our Dog of the Month for July on FOX 45 In The Morning. She was featured on Wed., July 11th, at 7:30 a.m. Penny is a sweet mix of Dachshund and Miniature Pincher. She is only 5.5 lbs., however is still growing. We guess she'll be around 12 - 15 lbs. full grown. Her birth date is 3-18-18 (she is soon to be 4 months old). She has short little legs like a Doxie and the color of a Min Pin. She loves to eat and knows exactly where her foster mom keeps the treats. She can hear that bag of goodies from another room! Penny is food motivated. Penny came into Puppy Pals Rescue as a stray from a local dog shelter. She was extremely timid - too frightened to go on the adoption floor. She has bloomed into a fun-loving, playful, and beautiful puppy. She has made a few appearances around Dayton, Ohio, and everyone loves her. She is a real player and loves to give kisses. She is all puppy. She loves her toys and loves to run outside in the yard with the other dogs. She will take on a dog 3x her weight in a tug of war with a toy'| size doesn't stop her. She isn't afraid of anything anymore! We are currently working on her crate/house/leash training. At first, she wouldn't go out into the yard and she would do her business on the deck or patio. She is starting to go potty in the yard and loves to potty behind the shrubs or hedge. She needs additional training in these areas. We will continue to work on it. She will catch on. Penny has received all of her shots, was fecal tested (results negative), was spayed and was micro-chipped. She is too young for a heartworm test. Our ideal home for Penny would be with a family who has children over 5 years old (due to her current size) and another young, playful, small-breed dog. She enjoys the companionship of, and the wrestling around with, another dog. Her pal here at her foster home is Camry (who is also on our website). We would prefer a home with a fenced-in yard for Penny so she can safely run and play. The Dachshund breed has the tendency to wander off if given the opportunity. If you are looking for a sweet dog to add to your growing family, and have the time to train a puppy'| Penny is no doubt the best puppy you will find. She is awesome!
