About Conninola

OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for ADULT dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. Conninola is a special needs puppy that was born with a constricted anus. This means she had difficulty passing stool and became dangerously constipated. She was purchased from a breeder by an uninformed young woman who quickly realized she could not afford any type of treatment for this baby. The breeder of the pup would not take her back so Conninola was turned into the County Ani mal Shelter. K9 Angel's stepped in and Conninola was taken to the veterinarian where she underwent a surgery to open the constricted anal area and she has been recovering in a foster home. Conninola is on food that is mixed with a laxative to keep it soft and easy to pass. She is doing quite well and growing normally and has a lot of spunk. The veterinarian hope's that as she grows her muscles surrounding her anus will strengthen and she will eventually deficate normally without the laxative. She also is now being introduced slowly to more and drier food. Conninola does fairly well with defecating normally and is quickly learning to go outside. The problem is that from time to time she can become constipated or if she gets too much laxative, she will leak from her anus. This is why I had her groomed short for now so she can be easily cleaned up. She is rambunctious and feisty like any normal 10-week old pup. She loves toys and playing with other dogs and even cats. She is very loving. She does well during the day confined to an exercise pen with wee wee pads down. Conninola will be reexamined at her time of spay surgery to see if the further opening of her anus is needed. She needs this special home with a family that will understand that at times she will leak poop from her backside. She is a very clean pup and in time we can hope she will be able to control her ability to defecate normally. For more information regarding Conninola and her needs contact K9 Angel's. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.
